Reaching Out To The Community
Serving Clients for over Three Decades
Ms. Sutton was born in Virginia where her father was a military police officer and mother a homemaker. Over her formative years her father’s military career would have the family travel the United Statues and some foreign countries. When her father retired, the family and this ‘Army brat’ would reside in Auburndale, Florida. She was active in girl scouts and band, becoming the drum major of the Imperial Sound of Auburndale her senior year. After leading the band in the prestigious Cherry Blossom parade in Washington, D.C., she graduated with Honors.
Ms. Sutton had an interest in law long before she started her career. Early on, one her favorite shows was Perry Mason, a popular legal drama of the 50s and 60s. While beginning her career as a paralegal, she studied psychology. In her spare time she would assist women and children housed in abuse shelters, and taught local legal assistants how to be better at their vocation. Over time, Debra’s interest in people, with the encouragement of the lawyers with whom she worked, would become her passion driving her to become a lawyer. The combination of skills learned in psychology with those developed and practiced in law, makes Debra a strong advocate and counsel for the Firm’s clients.
For more than 30 years, Ms. Sutton has been representing clients in Florida and has tried cases in both county and circuit courts. She has also represented clients before federal and state appellate courts. While ably qualified to litigate a client’s matter, Ms. Sutton has also been prompt to work to resolve a case by negotiation, mediation or collaboration where possible. Over the course of her career, Ms. Sutton has helped many clients through some of the most difficult periods of their life. Ms. Sutton is genuinely invested in her clients' well-being and applies her full knowledge and resources to every case to achieve the best possible outcome.
Debra J. Sutton leads Sutton Law Firm focused to provide competent, compassionate, committed, and dignified representation to the Firm's clients.
